Executive Coaching

The needs of executives and managers are very unique.  The higher an individual rises in the organization the harder it is to find time to be reflective, develop new skills, and or obtain honest feedback.  As a certified coach Chris has helped hundreds of executives and high performing leaders achieve career and organizational success. Chris’ is highly effective in targeting the these unique needs by:

Maximizing Your Time Available:  Providing targeted discussion time that allows executives focus on the challenges and goals most important to them and create strategies that can be implemented immediately.

Developing or Strengthening Your Skills:  Studies have shown that while we tend to focus and promote individuals on their analytical skills that it is actually our people or social skills that enable us to be most effective.   Chris’ research and experience allows her to help executives identify and utilize key behaviors that will make the greatest impact.

Providing Observations and Feedback:  As individuals rise in the ranks of the organization, those reporting to them are less likely to “speak truth to power” and it is also harder for executives to admit what they do not know.  The confidentiality of the coaching partnership gives the executives the opportunity to get honest input and work on solutions.

Chris has extensive experience in the nuances of coaching to support individuals at different phases of their career.  She is aware that every change is not the same and that executives and leaders need different focus and support depending on their unique situation.

On–Boarding Coaching

Making a good first impression quickly is critical for executives entering a new organization.  On-boarding coaching helps executives better understand the culture of their new organization and how to fit in.  This coaching also supports executives in setting priorities and discerning how to apply their existing skills and abilities to meeting those critical first needs.  Attention is then applied to identifying knowledge and skill gaps that need to be closed in order to be successful in the long-run.

Promotion Coaching

The skills that got someone promoted are hardly ever the skills that will make them successful in their new job.  That is why coaching after promotion is such a successful strategy.  Promotion coaching is similar to on-boarding, but without the emphasis on learning the new culture as the individual is already familiar with the organization.  Promotion coaching supports the individual in assessing how this new level of responsibility is different from their previous job.  It also helps them develop a targeted strategy to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to be successful.

Transition Coaching

You can never step back into the stream in the same place because the stream keeps moving.   The same is true of individuals in organizations.  Transition coaching occurs when individuals have been away from their home organization on assignment or for long-term training.  Part of Chris’ success with leadership development programs comes from the rigorous process used to help individuals re-enter their organization, get up to speed quickly, and get recognized for the new knowledge and skill they can now bring to the organization.
